At minimum, you will need a cleaning service to provide a housekeeper for your vacation property in between renters. A housekeeper will thoroughly clean the house after one set of renters leave to provide a fresh home for the next renters. To find a housekeeper, looking online for cleaning services near your rental property, or ask other rental property owners in the area whose service they use. The housekeeper can also assess the home for damages or missing property between renters to protect your belongings and retain any security deposit from the renters if necessary.
You may also want to hire a maintenance person and landscaping person who will be available to service the house when necessary. A maintenance person who lives near the rental property and can be available 24 hours a day for emergencies will make you, and any renters, feel safe being in the house. Lawn care is also important to provide an excellent first impression to renters.
Many vacation rental owners also hire a property management company to take care of some of the day-to-day operations of the rental property, such as communicating with potential renters, arranging maintenance, advertising the property and taking care of check-in and check-out procedures. Hiring a property management company is personal preference, as many vacation rental owners like to deal with all of these aspects on their own.
