New York Scenic Road TripPosted by: Admin
New York is the perfect place to plan for a scenic road trip. Best in the spring, summer and fall, road trips throughout New York offer unparalleled sweeping mountain views, beautiful lake views and bucolic countryside. New York has such a wealth of natural beauty that it’s almost a shame to limit yourself to just one area when visiting. Why not take a multi-city road trip, or at least set out on daytrips while staying in one location.
No matter where you are staying in New York State, there is a nearby road trip that will allow you to take in the beautiful views that the state has to offer. Many road trips can be completed in one day or less, but you can of course feel free to extend a road trip, or only do part of a road trip, at your leisure. Some of the best places to start out on a road trip in New York are the Finger Lakes region, The Hudson Valley, Central New York, the Adirondacks, the Catskills and around Lake Erie.
If you’re in northern New York, the Thousand Island Trail and Adirondack Loop are two really wonderful road trips. The Thousand Island region features rocky outcrops in the St. Lawrence River, so driving along the river is really a sight to see. As a part of this road trip, you can take a tour boat around Alexandria Bay and learn about the history of this area. On the Adirondack Loop, road trippers will experience the high peaks of the mountains, wilderness areas and amazing scenery. Stop by Lake Placid and Saranac Lake to experience northern New York towns.
In central New York, the ideal road trip routes are the Mohawk Valley Loop, Central New York Loop and Catskills Loop. Each of these can be completed in one day or less. Road trippers will see landscapes that have remained largely untouched throughout the decades, inspiring the paintings of the Hudson School of Art. The Central New York loop also passed through popular towns like Syracuse and smaller towns like Cazenovia and Skaneateles, offering the chance to stop off an explore a little more in depth.
The Finger Lakes region also provides beautiful scenery for road trips around the area. Visitors will pass through quaint towns like Watkins Glen and Geneva, state parks, wildlife regions and the well-known gorges of this region. Stop off at the Buttermilk Falls State Park, Montour Falls, Shequaga Falls and Seneca Falls. This historic and beautiful region has plenty to see and do, so plan for at least a day or two when exploring the Finger Lakes.
The best way to do a road trip is to book an affordable vacation rental in a central area, and then set out by car to explore the surrounding region. Vacation rental homes are private and spacious, while still offering all of the amenities that you’d have at home. Consider booking a Finger Lakes cabin rental or a Syracuse vacation home rental to call your home base between daily road trips.
