We now accept reservations for our 2009 rental season, which starts in May,for the folowing property:
On 3 secluded acres in the Hudson Valley Artist Hamlet of Cragsmoor, elevation 2,100 ft., 90 miles/NYC. Fully furnished, decorated, equipped.


The House is an L shaped log cabin with a large open deck and a covered porch on full foundations.
It features cathedral ceiling and wood burning fireplace in the large L-shaped living/dining/kitchen area. Flooring - a combination of hard wood bamboo floor and ceramic tile.
Master BR has queen size bed, and opens up onto the deck. The Den/TV room has a convertible sofa that sleeps 2. The additional bedroom has one twin bed. The lower level offers another space which could sleep2 or can be used as a studio. The lower level opens onto a patio area.

Open galley kitchen equipped with refrigerator and electric stove, lots of counter and cabinet space, also opens onto deck.
An inside stairwell leads to the lower level.
The house is located deep into the woods at the end of a 1/4 mile well maintained dirt road.



Area Description:

On the National Register of Historic Places, this Hudson River School of Artists Hamlet is off Route 52 between Pine Bush and Ellenville. The Sam’s Point Preserve (NYS Land) is on our mountaintop. A large number of hiking trails of varying difficulties will lead you to discover the splendid vistas, the sky lakes, and the rare dwarf pine ecosystems which make this location unique in the tri-state area. Cragsmoor has a Post Office, a lending library, a volunteer fire company, a Historical Society & Playhouse, a Church and Concert & Meeting Hall, but no commercial activities. The nearest supermarket is about a 15 minute ride down in the Roundout valley.

Because of its unique location it is a renowned spot for hang gliding and para-sailing. Lessons are available via a school located in Ellenville. Tennis, golf and horseback riding are all available within a twenty minute drive. Rock climbing, kayaking, tubing, canoeing and white water rafting are available within an hour ride. Fly fishing enthusiasts will enjoy the numerous trout streams including the famous Esopus Creek.

Several good restaurants are located within a forty minute radius. Nearby day trips include the Mohonk Preserve and Mountain House, the old stone houses of New Paltz, the Vanderbuilt Mansion & FDR Home in Hyde Park, The Culinary Institute of America, Woodstock, the environmental sculpture park of Opus 40, the Catskill Game Farm, the Dia/Beacon modern art museum and the West Point Military Academy. Historic mansions and the homes of many Hudson River School Artists are scattered throughout the area.


Terms and Conditions:

The house is available for rental from Memorial Day through the end of October, for long weekends (3 day stay), midweek stays, by the week (7 day stay), month, or the whole season depending on availability. Contact us for possible off-season arrangements. Fees are as follows:
