West Kill Vacation Rentals

The village of West Kill has one major draw, especially for outdoors-loving travelers:  West Kill Mountain.  It’s admittedly a name that sounds a bit daunting, but this mountain is beloved, not for blood sports, but for hiking.  In conjunction, the area is also home to West Kill Mountain Wilderness Area.

In fact, a vacation rental cabin, cottage, or home in the West Kill area can serve as a base camp for any of several active pastimes, particularly of the snowy variety.  Skiers should be especially interested, since a couple major resorts are within driving distance.  Here’s a rundown of the overall location of West Kill village:

Ÿ  It’s near Halcott Mountain and Halcott Mountain Wild Forest, the westernmost forest preserve in Greene County.

Ÿ  It’s within 20 miles of Hunter Mountain.

Ÿ  Windham Mountain is also within a 20-mile drive.

Ÿ  The Hudson River at Saugerties is about 30 miles to the east.

If you’re interested in getting to your vacation rental via a local airport, your nearest choices for major airlines are Stewart International Airport at Newburgh, approximately 80 miles northwest, or Albany International Airport, about 70 miles to the north.  Manhattan and the rest of NYC are considerably further south - over 130 miles.
