Make Mine Manhattan: Washington Heights Vacation Rentals
How does one describe Washington Heights? That it is a bit less rarefied than the rest of Manhattan? That a vacation rental here is more real-life and less like a few rounds of spot-the-moviestar? That the crime rate is coming down? Washington Heights is a neighborhood of historical sites and the highest point in Manhattan - excepting skyscrapers, of course.
Manhattan Neighborhood Search: Washington Heights
Washington Heights is near the northern tip of Manhattan, although it is not the northernmost. It comes by its title naturally, though; Washington Heights looks down on the Hudson River and contains Bennett Park, the highest elevation in Manhattan. It runs from 155th Street to Dyckman Street. It’s east-west boundaries are a bit easier: from the Harlem River to the Hudson River.
Washington Heights Attractions
Washington Heights may have some of the lowest rents of Manhattan, but it’s by no means a place devoted entirely to residential areas. In fact, several important historical sites lie within its boundaries. These include Fort Tryon Park and the Cloisters, the Medieval Art branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was also home to John James Audubon, famed illustrator. The Audubon Terrace is home to a collection of buildings that show off the Beaux-Arts style.
