Looking for a Place to Stay in New York? Try Stamford
Searching for a vacation rental is hard work. Is the place you choose conveniently located to all the activities you want to do? That can be a make-or-break decision. After all, nothing says ‘wasted vacation time’ like a three-hour daily commute to your favorite ski center / swimming hole / shopping center.
That introduces one of the great things about a vacation rental in New York. You can often find one that is reasonably near several attractions. Take the town of Stamford. It’s about halfway between the towns of Oneonta and Catskill. While you probably would choose to stay in a rental near Syracuse or Cooperstown if your vacation is based on the Finger Lakes, it’s certainly possible to take a day trip to that region from the Stamford area.
Stamford is squarely in the Catskills, which means its great for skiing. Windham Mountain Ski Center, one of the Catskill’s most popular resorts, is within half an hours’ drive. An hour in the car will take you to the town of Catskill on the Hudson River; in the same amount of time, you can be in Cooperstown, checking out Glimmerglass or the Baseball Hall of Fame. If you plan on flying into the area, Albany International Airport is about 90 minutes away.
