Southampton By the Numbers
Southampton is a largish town on Long Island; it also comprises the hamlets and villages of Quogue, Bridgehampton, Eastport, Hampton Bays, North Sea, Riverside, Water Mill, Westhampton, part of Sag Harbor (the rest is in Easthampton), the village of Southampton, and several other neighborhoods. For the rest of the geography lesson, we’ll note that Southampton is 40 miles east of Long Island Airport, 92 miles east of New York City, 27 miles west of Montauk, and move along to the fun bit.
Naturally, with such an abundance of distinct neighborhoods and a strategic location on the Atlantic Coast, Southampton packs plenty of punch when it comes to activities. The Westhampton and Westhampton Beach area alone is home to several art shows; Quogue hosts a wildlife refuge, and there’s plenty of room for surfing, tennis, boating, and other sports. Those are just a few of the reasons that Southampton makes a great spot for a vacation rental. In fact, vacation rental owners and guests alike can enjoy any of the following:
More than 12 area golf courses, public and private
4 ranches and horse-riding stables
3 parks
5 movie theatres
More than 25 restaurants
In Southampton, there’s something for everyone - if not in the village, in one of the nearby neighborhoods!
