Summer In Sagaponack

Situated on Long Island, five miles south of Sag Harbor and 20 miles west of Montauk, Sagaponack is a bit unusual when compared to other Hampton locales.  While it is part of the larger town of Southampton, according to the town website, it remained largely unaltered for years, avoiding much of the rush to vacation rental home frenzy that other villages succumbed to.

Until now, that is.  While the level geography and rich soil still produce edibles, these days they are also home to wineries, a golf course, and the other trappings of modern vacation activities.  Vacation rental seekers are often drawn to visit by the Atlantic coastline - an almost iconic summer vacation destination -  and the area parks and beaches.  Of course, the fact that it is an easy distance of 100 miles from New York City and less than 50 to Long Island MacArthur Airport doesn’t hurt, either.

A visit to Sagaponack can be a quick trip, a long weekend away from the city, or a month-long summer retreat; it can be a gateway to the rest of Long Island and the Hamptons, or an inclusive visit to a small and unique town.  However you choose to spend your time, enjoy this sliver of New York state!
