Things to Do and See in Rhinebeck

Just a few miles north of Red Hook lies another Dutchess County town with a vivid history.  Rhinebeck is five miles south of Red Hook, 60 miles south of Albany, and more or less across the Hudson River to Kingston and the Catskill Mountains.  It shares some notable sights with Red Hook, especially the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome and the Montgomery Place Historical Site and Estate; both of these are conveniently located to either town.

Getting There:  If you’re driving, Rhinebeck is about 100 miles north of New York City.  You can also fly into Albany International Airport and drive south, or make use of the New York train service via Amtrak.

Things to Do In Rhinebeck:  To make a success of your vacation rental, you need to have two things:  location and attractions.  Rhinebeck’s location we have already discussed, but what can you do once you get there?

This area is rich in history, and you can get a feel for it by attending a museum (like the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome, which has a collection World War I (and prior) aircraft, and offers shows and biplane rides) or by touring one of the historical houses or sites in the neighborhood.

You can also just plain relax, thanks to Havens Spa, or enjoy a soothing stroll in Northern Dutchess County Botanical Gardens.
