The Multiples of Plattekill
In one of those strange twists of geographical logistics, there are no less than four Plattekills in New York; a mountain, a stream, a town, and a hamlet within the town. Even more strange is the positioning: Plattekill the town is bordered by Platte Kill the stream and contains Plattekill the hamlet, but Plattekill Mountain is actually located in Roxbury, New York, some 1.5 hours north of town, stream, and hamlet.
For the purposes of vacation rentals, skiers and winter sports enthusiasts will probably want to center on Plattekill Mountain. (Once again, the kill in Plattekill means stream; itís not a verb.) Vacation rentals in Roxbury or in nearby towns are especially great for families and groups of friends, and Plattekill Mountain is great for skiers of all levels.
Hereís the numbers on Plattekill Mountain:
