The Adirondacks Lakes: Oxbow Lake Vacation Rentals

If you’re looking for a lakeside vacation rental in New York, you’ll have plenty of options.  If you want you vacation rental to include a few mountains, whether for scenery, skiing, hiking, or fall colors, the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York should rank high on your list of possible destinations.

Nestled within the foothills of the Adirondacks is the sprawling town of Arietta.  Like many New York towns, it is further subdivided into various communities, such as Piseco, home to Piseco Lake.  Just north of Piseco Lake lies Oxbow Lake.  Oxbow Lake, in turn, is a little ways south of Sacandaga Lake and Lake Pleasant.

Oxbow Lake has a unique, almost crescent shape.  You can rent a canoe, kayak, or boat and see it up close and personal, all while enjoying the surrounding mountains and forests.

Getting There:  Oxbow Lake is within Arietta township and close to the hamlet of Piseco.  It’s in Hamilton County.  If you’re coming  north from Albany, it’s about a two-hour drive.  It’s also about two hours west of Syracuse.  Ticonderoga and Lake Champlain are 1.5 hours to the east.  The Vermont state line and the winter sports facilities at Lake Placid, New York are both approximately two hours away by car.
