Explore Long Island’s North Fork:  Orient Point Vacation Rentals

With the exception of Montauk, there are few places further east on Long Island than Orient Point.  A vacation rental out here is a great way to experience the best of the Long Island Sound, plus the vineyards and wineries of the North Fork.

Where:  Orient Point is part of the larger community of Orient, the easternmost entity in the chain of towns and villages that make up the North Fork of Long Island.  Orient point is the extreme eastern tip of the peninsula; it’s also the gateway to Connecticut, thanks to the 17-mile-long trip across the Sound on the Orient Point-New London Ferry.

If you’d like to fly in, the nearest major airport on Long Island is MacArthur Airport in Islip - Ronkonkoma.  That’s about 60 miles west of Orient Point; LaGuardia and JFK are more than 30 miles further west.

What to Do and See:  People have been coming to Orient Point for more than 100 years.  Starting in the 1870s, this tip of Long Island became a tourist destination; it attracted the likes of American President Grover Cleveland, poet Walt Whitman, and actress Sarah Bernhardt.  Nowadays, people come not only because of the sea views, but also the amenities.  There’s golf, beaches, museums, and marinas.  Add in the wineries that make the North Fork famous, and you can see why vacation rentals in Orient Point are popular.
