Make Mine Manhattan: NoHo Vacation Rentals
New Yorkers are famous for being in a rush. A New York minute is said to be rather faster than the standard 60 seconds, and just try to drive slowly down the congested streets. Their penchant for speed is even evident in the names they give their neighborhoods. Rather than saying “the area North of Houston Street”, New Yorkers shorten that to one word: NoHo. And NoHo is a great place for a vacation rental.
Manhattan Neighborhood Search: NoHo
NoHo’s southern border is - no big surprise here - Houston Street. From there, it runs to East Ninth Avenue. It’s sandwiched between East Village and West Village. NoHo is firmly in Lower Manhattan.
NoHo Attractions
NoHo has a long history; witness the 125 buildings that make up the neighborhood’s historical district. Some of the highlights of the area - constructed largely between 1850 and the early days of the 1900s - are the Cable Building, Colonnade Row, and the Joseph Papp Public Theater in the former Astor Library. NoHo was, in turn, a hub of NYC commerce and a warehouse district, followed by an invasion of artsy types in the 70s and 80s. Now its home to everything from Shakespeare and Co booksellers to NYU’s School of the Arts.
