New Lebanon:  Exploring Eastern New York

Purists may debate whether the New York Berkshires are technically part of the larker Berkshire region that extends through Connecticut and Massachusetts.  They may argue that these rolling hills are part of the Taconic Mountains.  To which non-purists reply :  Whatever.  It’s beautiful anyway.  Sit down and enjoy the view.

New Lebanon and its surrounding towns are situated so near the Massachusetts border to make this debate a non-issue.  Pittsfield, Massachusetts and the Pittsfield State Forest are an easy drive, 9 miles or so to the east.  But the scenery around New Lebanon is wooded and rolling in its own right.  If the urge to see mightier mountains hits, the Adirondacks are approximately 75 miles to the north.

The general Lebanon area - including New Lebanon, West Lebanon, and Lebanon Springs - is a good idea if you’re looking for a vacation rental that enables you to experience several different things in one place.  This holds true for many upstate and central New York vacation rentals, so what does New Lebanon and its villages offer?  Here’s a few activities:

The Shaker Museum and Library

Lebanon Valley Historical Society

Bousquet Ski Area (just over the Massachusetts border)

Mount Lebanon Shaker Village

Lebanon Valley Speedway

So whether you’re coming for old-fashioned crafts or fast cars, New Lebanon is worth a look!
