Visiting Mount Kisco
Fans of the novelist Rex Stout will recognize Mount Kisco right away as the setting for the playground of the (fictional) rich and famous. And they wouldn’t be all that far wrong: located in Westchester County and a mere 50 miles from New York City, Mount Kisco and its neighbors still draw their share of well-heeled residents, both the full- and part-time variety. But what can it offer the newcomer, the person looking for a vacation rental rather than a weekend retreat?
Founded in 1850, Mount Kisco now is home to about 10,000 residents, but it still tries to maintain a small-town feel. Being in southwestern New York, you’re never all that far away from the rest of New England. For example, Greenwich, Connecticut, is about 25 miles away. And, in keeping with the American literature theme, Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow are approximately 15 miles to the other direction. In other words, a vacation rental in Mount Kisco is a great place to explore, not only New York City and the Hudson Valley region, but a fair sized chunk of other states as well.
If you’re not inspired to do so much traveling during your time off, there’s plenty of attractions in and around Mount Kisco itself. These include golfing, theatre, dining out, and shopping - the highlights, many will say, of any vacation.
