Monticello: Beyond the Boring
Planning a vacation isn’t easy. Some people avoid this problem by vacationing in the same spot every year, booking the same vacation rental, and inviting the same friends and family (or not) to share their getaway. For the more adventurous other half, a huge part of the success of any vacation is experiencing new things. If not a new state, a new county in the state; if not a new activity, a new vacation rental in a different village.
Monticello is a village in Sullivan County, 2 hours each to Albany and New York City. It’s classified as part of the Adirondacks region, and the village itself plays home to Holiday Mountain Ski and Fun Park, so it’s pretty self-evident that skiing and winter sports of all kinds can be indulged in here.
However, visitors to Monticello aren’t limited to the village limits when planning out their vacation activities. Within Sullivan County are an almost all-inclusive list of fun things to do, ranging from interacting with animals to visiting wineries. Here’s a short list of some of the things you can do:
For Adults: Visit a vineyard, a winery, or even a distillery
For Art Lovers: Check out the galleries, antique shops, museums, and the performing arts center
For Families: Together you can fish, hike, camp, play tennis, or visit a cider mill; for stressed moms, there are shopping and spas; for dads, hunting and golf.
