Milton: Horses, Art and More
On the western banks of the fabled Hudson River, about 80 miles north of New York City and 70 miles south of Albany, there sits Milton. It’s a small spot; the nearest fair-sized city is the college town of Poughkeepsie, about 7 miles northeast. Another eclectic arts and eats enclave, New Paltz, is 13 miles to the northwest.
So why consider Milton as a possible location for your next vacation rental? A big part of the answer lies in the location. While the town of Milton’s website emphasizes its links to Saratoga Springs, resort and thoroughbred racing center extraordinaire, that’s a good two hour drive to the north. There’s plenty of reasons to book you vacation rental home here that have nothing to do with the equine species. While this is the Hudson River Valley, it is also next door to the Catskill Mountains, going northwest. That means fishing, hunting, even golfing in an area of great natural beauty.
There are also several other attractions in the area, from the art museum at SUNY New Paltz to Milton’s town parks. So whether you’re in the mood to see the ponies or paint the peaks, there’s something to do in Milton.
