Explore Long Island’s North Fork: Mattituck Vacation Rentals
Mattituck is a great place to book a vacation rental. There’s water aplenty, thanks to the Great Peconic Bay and Mattituck Inlet, not to mention Long Island Sound to the north. And since the town was established in 1678, there’s plenty of history as well.
Where: The village of Mattituck faces Peconic Bay. In fact, it is more or less across the Bay from the Hamptons, although if you want to drive round, you’ll need to detour the 14 miles it takes to circle the Bay. It’s a bit southeast of the town of Cutchogue. While you can come in via the Long Island Rail Road, having a car is still a good idea if you want to do some exploring. It’s about 35 miles from the Long Island Airport to Mattituck; New York’s airports are about another 40 miles further east.
What to Do and See: The vineyards and wineries of North Fork top the list when it comes to local attractions, but they are not the only reason to book a vacation rental in Mattituck. Love Lane - Mattituck’s version of Main Street - is home to an eclectic assortment of shops, selling everything from cheese to designer clothes. And the whole town is proud of its locally-grown produce; the Strawberry Festival in June is a highlight.
