The Adirondacks Lakes: Loon Lake Vacation Rentals

Where, you wonder, is Loon Lake?  It’s about 40 miles west of Peru.  No, not Peru the South American country.  Peru, New York, on the shores of the mighty Lake Champlain.

Loon Lake offers all the traditional activities associated with staying at a vacation rental in the Adirondacks:  skiing, hiking, biking, fishing, and much more.  Since it’s in the Adirondack Park, that’s not surprising.

If you’re planning a vacation rental in the Loon Lake area, you’re probably not expecting Times Square.  And that’s good, because Times Square and the rest of New York City is about six hours to the south.  Here the main towns are Chester and Horicon - quite different from Manhattan.  In fact, Montreal Quebec is considerably closer to the shores of Loon Lake than Albany, New York’s capital, which sits 170 miles to the south.  The nearest airport is Plattsburgh International Airport,  about 40 miles to the east.

So if Loon Lake doesn’t offer city views and luxury shopping, what does it offer?  The glory of the Adirondacks, from acres of freshwater fishing to tangy mountain air.  It’s a getaway from all the noise and bustle of life to a stiller, simpler way of being.
