Fire Island Destinations: Kismet Vacation Rentals
Ready for a summer vacation on the Atlantic coast? You can’t get much more coastline than what is packed into Fire Island’s slim, 31-mile-long stretch of shoreline. It’s a barrier island - think Florida Key, transplanted north. With the Atlantic Ocean on one shore and Great South Bay between you and Long Island, a vacation rental on Fire Island will get you right to the surf and sand.
What and Where: Kismet is on the western end of Fire Island. From here, you can catch the Bay Shore Ferry and head back to Long Island. It’s approximately 12 miles (including ferry travel) to Bay Shore.
Each community in Fire Island tends to attract a slightly different crowd; in Kismet, the general idea is Party Town central. Families and quieter folks may want to check out other communities on Fire Island, especially around Spring Break, but people who love to party will love Kismet.
Getting There: Kismet is approximately 25 miles from Long Island Airport, 40 miles to JFK Airport, and 50 miles to LaGuardia Airport. All routes use the Bay Shore ferry.
If you’d rather not drive, Long Island Rail Road stops at Bay Shore; you can catch the ferry form there. Your vacation rental at Kismet is waiting!
