See the Catskills in Hobart NY

Part of the town of Stamford in Delaware County, Hobart is located in the upper part of the state of New York.  It’s about 30 miles from Oneonta and 110 miles from Ithaca and the Finger Lakes region.  It’s also firmly in the Catskills mountains.  Set along the West Branch of the Delaware River - which has its source in Mount Jefferson nearby - it’s called the Jewel of the West Branch.

When we say its firmly in the Catskills, just how firmly do we mean?  Well, within about ten miles radius, you can visit the previously-mentioned Mount Jefferson to the north, or you can head south to visit Bearpen Mountain and Halcott Mountain, both quite popular as skiing destinations.  Burnt-Rossman Hills State Forest is also located to the north, and Plattekill State Forest to the south.  So it goes without saying that vacation rentals in this area are great for skiers.  As a further inducement, a bit further down the road are Belleayre, Windham, and Hunter Mountain.

What can Hobart offer vacation rental seekers and others?  There’s five bookstores in the town, as well as three restaurants and a museum (Jim Barr Museum) that’s dedicated entirely to telephones.  In the summertime, there’s also a Farmer’s Market resident on Fridays at the Town Hall Green.  If you’re looking for a place to stay for your gateway, try Hobart!
