Make Mine Manhattan: Greenwich Village Vacation Rentals
A vacation rental in the Village? Sounds like the premise of the next blockbuster travel movie. Movie-worthy or not, it does give visitors a chance to experience some of the atmosphere of this most legendary of New York neighborhoods.
Greenwich Village - usually shortened to just 'the Village' - started life in the early 1600s and became an actual village in 1712. Thanks to this extended past, part of the Village doesn’t have the traditional grid layout of many large US cities; instead, be prepared for curvy roads. And while the idea of living in (or renting for a week, month, or year) a Village flat has a artsy, bohemian-chic feel, the joke is that very few artists - the very people who gave Greenwich its cachet - can afford the rent any more!
Manhattan Neighborhood Search: Where is Greenwich Village?

Greenwich Village Attractions
Greenwich Village is an attraction in itself; whether your vacation rental is an apartment in the Village itself or a loft on the other side of Manhattan, you’re likely to find this neighborhood on your itinerary. Hence, walking tours are popular (and free!). NYU has a strong presence here, and the artistic side of life is well-represented by galleries. Shoppers will like the trendy, funky boutiques.
