Fire Island Destinations:  Fire Island Pines Vacation Rentals

A vacation rental on Fire Island opens up many possibilities.  In the mood to sail or just stroll the beach?  You can do that.  Fire Island is home to several noted parks and beaches, including Smith Point County Park, Robert Moses State Park, and Sunset Cliffs Park.  At the eastern end of the island, there’s Fire Island National Seashore.  And all of this within the isle’s 31-mile length.

What and Where:  Fire Island Pines is on the eastern end of the island.  It’s near neighbors include Cherry Grove and Davis Park.  It’s known as a fairly glitzy area, and it boasts the highest real estate values on the isle.

Getting There:  You can get to Fire Island via both the Patchogue and West Bay Shore Ferries.  If you’re bringing you car over, it’s about 30 miles to Long Island Airport via the Bay Shore Ferry; LaGuardia and JFK airports use the same routes, but they are 60 and 50 miles away respectively.

Not in the mood to cope with Long Island traffic?  Take the Long Island Rail Road to Bay Shore or Patchogue and cross Great South Bay using the ferry service.  Or, if you’ve a bit of extra cash after booking your vacation rental house, you may want to book a ride on a seaplane.  After all, it’s both transportation and sightseeing opportunity.
