Copake Is A Nice Place to Be
There are ways of making your vacation rental do double duty - invite a friend (or several) and spend time traveling and catching up; rent a house near several attractions; or - as in the case of vacation rentals in Copake - book a vacation rental near three state lines.
Copake, a little town in Columbia county, New York, is located about two hours north of New York City and about 90 minutes south of Albany International Airport. It’s also quite handy to the Connecticut and Massachusetts. In fact, go about 17 miles southeast and you’ll find yourself in Salisbury, Connecticut. Drive 18 miles or so due east and you’ll wind up in Sheffield, Massachusetts.
Copake was founded by German and Dutch settlers in the 1700s, but the area was inhabited by the Mohican tribe long before that. Even today, the occasional arrowhead is still dug up in local soil.
If you enjoy outdoor activities - golf, hiking, boating, skiing - you’ll find them here. You’ll also find more relaxed purists, like antiquing, visiting galleries and theatres, museums and historical houses. A quick look at the rolling scenery of the Berkshires will convince you of what people have realized about this area for hundreds of years: it’s a nice place to be.
