Time to Chill in Colton, New York

Ahhh, vacation.  Those precious days, so few compared to the endless workweeks of the year.  You’ve only got a week or two, so plan with care.

This is especially important - and tricky - if you’re traveling with your family or a group of friends.  Vacationing with an extended family can be awesome, but it does require more room and freedom than your average hotel offers.  Many people have found that staying in a vacation rental suits their needs and budgets.  The same goes for staying with a group of friends:  a vacation rental can be more fun and economical than other options.  So to see vacation rentals in the Colton area, click here.

Colton isn’t the largest town in the Adirondacks; it’s not the best-known; and it doesn’t have a steady stream of celebrity guests.  What is does have is location and relaxation, small-town style.

Set along the Raquette River, Colton and its surrounding areas enjoy plenty of riparian delights.  The natural scope of the river was augmented by seven lakes, formed by damming the river at key spots.  In the mood for fishing, kayaking, boating?  How about something a bit more adventurous, of the white-water type?  You can go for that in Colton.

Fans of dry land can indulge in one of the area’s many hiking trails.  If a less-active pursuits seems favorable, absorb the Americana atmosphere in Colton by viewing the boat race, listening to the community band play at the gazebo, or taking in the classic car show during the town’s summer festival.  However you choose to do it, enjoy your stay!
