Searching for things to do in the hamlet of Chichester, New York, may leave you feeling a little nonplussed.  It’s located in New York’s Catskills region, but it doesn’t spring to mind when resort towns are mentioned.  However, one of the great things about this region is the variety it encompasses into a relatively small piece of geography.

Are you thinking  of getting a vacation rental home in Chichester or one of its neighboring communities?  There are a number of reasons to give vacation rentals in Chichester serious consideration.  No matter if you live in New York City or San Diego, the Catskills have a rewarding vacation to offer you:

Hiking and Skiing.  You didn’t think we’d mention the Catskills without also tossing off a line about skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer?  For sportsmen and sportswomen, there’s also fishing and hunting.

Consider visiting a small town with lots to offer.  Phoenicia, just two miles away, offers a mix of bookstores, specialty shops, and restaurants for those days when you’re done with the wilderness for a while.

Get eclectic in Woodstock.  Make the 16-mile trip to Woodstock to experience a bit of everything the mid-state region of New York has to offer, from antique stores to white water rafting.  (Music lovers note:  the actual site of the original Woodstock was outside of Bethel, some sixty miles away.)

The Catskills have been hosting visitors for generations; whether your ideal vacation is browsing in great shops or landing a trout, Chichester and its environs have something to offer you.
