Three Reasons to Choose Chestertown

Chestertown is located in New York’s Adirondacks region, home of monumental lakes, inspiring mountains, rolling rivers, and relaxing armchairs.  The Chestertown area is great both in terms of scenery and in attractions.  If you want to stay at home and relax and your friends want to go waterskiing, you can both be accommodated in the Chestertown and its environs.  Here’s what’s available:

1.  Water - as in lots of it.  The Hudson and Schroon Rivers are nearby, as is Brandt Lake and Lake George.  Vermont’s Lake Champlain Valley is within driving distance.

2.  Theme Parks.  An essential for kids and kids-at-heart, there are two theme parks in the Chestertown area:  Great Escape Theme Park and Splashwater Kingdom (in Lake George); the Enchanted Forest Water Safari, New York’s largest water park, is a bit further away, in Old Forge.

3.  History.  Fort Ticonderoga, the site of five battles in two major American wars, is located between Lake George and Lake Champlain.  It’s also about 30 miles from Chestertown.

These three reasons make it plain why the Adirondacks region, and particularly Chestertown, is a great vacation spot:  You get a bit of everything.  Adrenaline junkies, kids, water bugs, scenery hounds, history buffs, amateur photographers - there’s an activity for each.  Staying in a vacation rental can also be a bonus, especially for a large group.  Vacation rental homes give you space and privacy, and common areas where everyone can gather.  Just as important, a vacation rental can give the “I’m-not-moving-from-this-armchair” vacationer a chance to relax while the rest of the group goes boating.
