Fire Island Destinations: Cherry Grove Vacation Rentals
Because the island is mere 31 miles long and slender to boot, a vacation rental on Fire Island is never too far away from any of the other attractions this island offers - or from the nearby shores of Long Island, either.
What and Where: Fire Island is made up of several communities, each with a distinct character. Cherry Grove is located on the eastern end of the island. (Much of the eastern tip of fire island is national seashore.) It’s nestled between Fire Island Pines and Point O’ Woods. One on side you have the Atlantic Ocean, on the other, Great South Bay.
Getting There: Cherry Grove is approximately 30 miles from Long Island Airport, 50 miles from JFK Airport, and 60 miles from LaGuardia Airport. All of these routes use the Bay Shore Ferry.
If you‘d rather not face Long Island traffic, use the railroad. Long Island Rail Road stops at Bay Shore. You can also book a seaplane ride from Manhattan; it can double as a sightseeing tour of Long Island and Fire Island.
What to Do: Anything that you associate with summer at the beach can be done on Fire Island: beachcombing, fishing, sailing, swimming, and surfing are a few of the popular activities. From your vacation rental, you’ll be close to it all.
