Visit Western New York at Chautauqua - Allegheny

Chautauqua is perched on the western edge of New York State - 75 miles south of Buffalo and 35 miles west of Erie, Pennsylvania.  Speaking of Erie, Lake Erie is quite nearby, and there’s also Lake Chautauqua itself, a 17-mile wide strip of freshwater with the town of Chautauqua on its shores.  If your thirst for more water is unslaked, the great Niagara Falls is within 100 miles.

There is another attraction within driving distance of Chautauqua.  That’s the Allegheny National Forest.  Situated mainly in Pennsylvania, it’s a wilderness with islands, rivers, and vast open spaces.
