Canada Lake:  Introducing the Adirondacks’ Lakes

There are a few things that set the Adirondack Mountains apart from other mountain chains.  One is their unusual formation:  more of a circular grouping rather than a long, undulating chain of peaks.

Another - and very important as a draw to the Adirondack region - is the number of lakes that nestle among the peaks.  There are just short of 700 of these gems ranging in size from picturesquely petite to Lake Champlain, the mighty source of the Hudson River.

Canada Lake is located in the southern tip of the Adirondacks.  It’s also on the border of Adirondack Park, the United State’s largest National Historical Landmark - and vacationers on a budget will be glad to know that there’s no entry fee for this spectacular slice of natural wonder.

While the shores of Canada Lake don’t offer a bustling metropolis, there are several towns and villages within 10 to 20 miles or so.  These include Gloversville, Johnstown, Salisbury Center, and Dolgeville.  Also nearby are East Caroga Lake, West Caroga Lake, and - as mentioned before - Lake Champlain.  If you’re looking for a vacation rental in the Canada Lake area or a vacation rental elsewhere in the Adirondacks, be sure to pack your appetite for fresh fish, great views, and long, relaxing afternoons!
