Sacandaga Lake Neighborhoods: Broadalbin
If you’re planning to get a vacation rental in the Adirondacks, you have a multitude of options, and you may not have to choose between them. In the mood for mountains? Lakes? Fishing? Skiing? In the Adirondacks, you can have all of that, and a comfy vacation rental to come back to.
Sacandaga Lake is actually a man-made reservoir, developed to ease the flooding of the Hudson River. What started life as a smallish lake in a mountain valley is now a 29-mile-long lake with 125 miles of shoreline.
Broadalbin is located at the southern tip of Great Sacandaga Lake. It’s approximately 17 miles west of Saratoga and 45 miles northwest of Albany. If you’re flying in, Albany International Airport is the closest choice; it’s the main air travel hub for this part of New York State. Alternatively, you could take a train to Saratoga Springs or Albany.
What sets this stretch of shoreline apart from its Sacandaga Lake neighbors is its windsurfing; it is the only place on the lake listed for the sport. If you’d rather pursue more traditional lakeside activities - from lounging onshore to boating and fishing - you can do that as well. What counts? Enjoying your vacation, of course!
