Bellport: An Introduction to Long Island
While Long Island is just that - long, as in the longest in the United States - it’s really only 118 miles from tip to top. Which means that you could reasonably expect to explore the length and breadth of Long Island, yet sleep in one place.
This goal is made somewhat easier by the western portion of Long Island being taken up by Queens and Brooklyn - on Long Island, but not really of it. If you’re looking for a vacation rental in a centrally located spot, consider a vacation rental in the town of Bellport. It’s 64 miles east of Manhattan and only 12 miles from Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip / Ronkonkoma. It’s also roughly halfway between New York City and Montauk, the easternmost tip of Long Island.
Bellport offers the usual compliment of vacation activities: golfing, dining out, shopping, the beach, the spa. It also has a lively sense of community, expressed in a list of community activities. These commence with the Easter Egg Hunt and continue on through the Memorial Day Parade, a July 4th art show, and Bellport Day Festival, which includes local crafts, music, games, rides, and food. Another local event is the Bellport-Brookhaven Historical Society Gala, which is held yearly to raise funds in support of preserving local history.
