Poor Arkville.  This upstate New York town is famous on Trip Advisor for two things:  Meadow Inn and the scenic ride on the Delaware and Ulster Railroad.  Unfortunately, half of its draws are on hold:  according to its website, the Delaware and Ulster Railroad is closed until further notice, courtesy of recent flooding.  Is this it for Arkville?  Are guests limited to one hotel and gazing regretfully at the railroad ties?

The answer is a resounding no.  One of the great things about the little villages that are scattered in and around the Catskills is that they are never all that far from anything else.  Those three or nine miles may be spent along winding mountain roads, but you’ll get there and you’ll enjoy some wonderful views in the process.  A vacation rental in Arkville can be a great base for exploring this part of New York State.
