Explore Long Island’s North Fork: Aquebogue Vacation Rentals
At less than 120 miles - and some of that occupied by the New York City boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn - you could reasonably expect to explore the whole of Long Island in a single trip. But why rush thorough this varied strip of land on the Atlantic Ocean? Many people opt to check out Long Island’s North Fork region from their vacation rental, enjoying a dash of history and tranquility with their stay.
Where: Aquebogue is a hamlet within the township of Riverhead. It’s sometimes considered to be the starting point for the North Fork region. From your rental, be it a seaside cottage or a modern beach house, you’ll only be about 30 miles east of Long Island Airport in Islip - Ronkonkoma. Queens and the major New York airports are about 80 miles to the west.
Aquebogue itself enjoys a protected view, looking out onto Flanders Bay. It borders Jamesport.
What to Do and See: Long Island’s North Fork has a wine-making tradition that dates back to the 1970s. You won’t want to miss out on visiting the vineyards of Long Island at your stay in Aquebogue; the village is home to several vineyards and wineries, and plenty more are within an easy driving distance.
If wine tasting isn’t your thing, there’s both maritime fun (fishing, boating, and beaches) and golf in the neighborhood. And while you are staying in your North Fork vacation rental, you can also take a peak at the Hamptons, just a few miles round the bay.
